The Business Innovation Group (BIG) at the Georgia Southern University College of Business is committed to developing a vibrant entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. At BIG, our focus is to provide our students with the skills and training necessary to understand business principles, to experience how businesses operate, and to successfully launch a new business enterprise. BIG includes the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development (BBRED), Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership (CELL) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Center for Business Analytics and Economic Research
The Center for Business Analytics and Economics Research (CBAER) is a division of the College of Business at Georgia Southern University. CBAER plays a vital role as a campus leader in economic development outreach in the 58-county region served by Georgia Southern University. CBAER serves as an essential link between the local, state, national and international business communities and the intellectual and creative resources of the University and the College of Business.
Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership
The Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership (CELL) is a new and developing center for entrepreneurship started at Georgia Southern University in 2008, and it seeks to “contribute to the economic and social well-being of Statesboro-Bulloch County and surrounding counties through entrepreneurship education and venture creation.”
Small Business Development Center
The Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) enhances the economic well-being of Georgians by providing a wide range of educational services for small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Veterans Business Outreach Center
The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) provides entrepreneurial development services such as business training, counseling, and mentoring for eligible Veterans owning or considering starting a small business. The VBOC also conducts entrepreneurial workshops including information on business plan development and SBA resources available to help access start-up capital and additional technical assistance.
The Southern Center for Logistics and Intermodal Transportation
The Southern Center for Logistics and Intermodal Transportation is housed in Georgia Southern University’s College of Business. Created in 1992 at the request of area industry leaders, the Center serves as a bridge between the logistics-related resources of the University and the business community engaged in logistics activities.
The Center’s activities focus on the rapidly growing supply chain operations, especially areas of logistics and intermodal distribution. As part of the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, the Center accesses a wealth of knowledge, skills, and abilities in logistics and supply chain management via a substantial group of faculty, hundreds of undergraduate majors, and cohorts of doctoral students.

Center for Sales Excellence
The Center for Sales Excellence was established to support and promote our students in pursuit of Sales and Sales Management careers. The Center is housed within the College of Business, serving business majors through a BBA in Marketing with an Emphasis in Sales and Sales Management. Through the activities of the Center, students gain experience with sales role-play in our three-room lab, and many go on to compete at the national level in competitions. The Center also works to bring sales students together with many companies who are looking for talent.
Center for Retail Studies
The Center for Retail Studies is located in the College of Business and is directed by the Department of Marketing. Students interested in retail can major with a BBA in Marketing while having a concentration in Retail Store Management or Fashion Merchandising. The Center aims to merge the gap between academia and practice by exposing students to national conferences and guest speakers in the retail industry. Students annually attend the National Retail Foundation’s “Big Show” in New York City and the Shop.Org Annual Summit. In addition, the Center helps facilitate retail internships and career opportunities available to students by hosting guest speakers of retail companies on campus and by assisting retailers’ involvement with Georgia Southern University’s career fair.
