We offer Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees with emphasis areas in management, human resources, entrepreneurship, and hospitality management and minors in management, entrepreneurship, and hospitality management. Our degree programs provide students with problem-solving skills and a versatile knowledge base needed to start, manage and lead modern innovative organizations. Management faculty members also teach core business courses fundamental for all business majors including Principles of Management and Strategic Management. Additionally, graduate programs in business at Georgia Southern University and online through the Georgia WebMBA are enriched by our departmental faculty’s instruction and research.

The management major is designed for students who want a broad academic background in various areas of management by integrating planning, organizing, directing, and controlling modern profit and non-profit organizations. The management program prepares the student for leadership opportunities in a broad range of occupations in virtually every sector of the global economy.

Human Resource Management
The human resource management (HRM) emphasis prepares students for a career focused on the most important resources of any organization—the people. Students pursuing this specialization will study in the only HRM college program in the region that emphasizes the use of human resource information system (HRIS) software.
The hospitality emphasis prepares students for entry-level management positions in the restaurant and lodging industries. The mission is accomplished through a competency-based, curricular program designed specifically for the development of future hotel and restaurant managers.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mikelle Calhoun, Ph.D. an assistant professor of management in the College of Business. Mikelle was a valued colleague, a respected teacher and a member of our faculty since August 2009. She will be missed.
At the College of Business, Mikelle taught international business courses (undergraduate and graduate), and her research focused on issues facing multinational firms operating across different markets.
