Business Abroad: Italy
Experience the the economy and culture of Italy! Join Dr. Linda Mullen on an 12-day intensive immersion into the business practices that characterize contemporary Northern Italy and the European Union. Learn about the challenges and successes Italy faces as it continues to innovate and grow its fascinating economic mix of a luxury market and heavy industry that drives the country’s role as a major exporter of goods.
Courses Titles and Credits:
Students have the opportunity to earn and must be enrolled in 3 credit hours to participate on this program. Students can choose from either of the following:
Undergraduates: BUSA 3083 – Business Abroad: Italy
Graduates: BUSA 7030 – Business Abroad: Italy
Undergraduate BBA students may use this course as a substitute for their BUSA 4131 requirement.
MBA students may use this course as a substitute for their “international” requirement, BUSA 7130.
MAcc students may use this as an approved elective.
Undergraduate students should have a declared business major and at least 45 credit hours at the time of application, with a 2.5 GPA. Graduate students should have graduate standing and permission of the Director of Graduate Programs for the College of Business. All students should have no active disciplinary record with the institution. All students must be fully admitted to the institution, and at least 18 years of age by the program departure date.
Dates of Program:
Travel: May 12 – May 25, 2019
Student will enroll for credit in the Summer 2019 term, and will be required to attend pre-departure course meetings in the Spring 2019 term.
Students should plan to depart the U.S. on May 12 to arrive to Milan, Italy on May 13. They should plan to depart from Rome, Italy on May 25.
Includes: All regional and local transportation; lodging for the duration of the program; breakfast everyday; several lunches and dinners; tour and entrance expenses; cooking class and oil mill tour; guest lectures; site visits to local companies and businesses; insurance coverage; business abroad polo shirt.
Additional Costs: Tuition & fees for 3 credit hours of course enrollment, round-trip airfare to Italy, and additional meals/personal expenses not included in the program cost.
About the Location:
Students will experience and learn to navigate concepts about issues critical to successful business practices in the globalized economic environment.
Italy is an important advanced economy, as the 3rd-largest in the Eurozone and 8th-largest by GDP in the world. By visiting the cities of Milan, Verona, and Rome, students will gain knowledge of how business is practiced locally in Italy, under constraints from both the EU and international systems. With its perpetual North-South divide, Italy will provide a microcosm for how governance impacts economic and business development, as well as issues related to growth in private wealth and inequality that are taking place globally. Utilizing both local and international of companies, students who travel to Italy will gain first-hand and comparative perspectives on the challenges faced by operating businesses in an international setting.

Program Application and $500.00 deposit payment: Due March 1, 2019
1st Program Payment of $1,195.50: Due March 22, 2019
2nd Program Payment of $1,195.50 and Insurance of $19.00: Due April 15, 2019

Space availability is first-come, first-served. A completed application and deposit must be submitted prior to being formally accepted to the program.
Once accepted to the program, all payments are non-refundable.
